material needed : a quilting fabric for the lining, a nice ribbon for the top of the pocket, iron interfacing, batting, stuffing...threads...needle...courage...and love...

Pochette / pouch containing the two smaller ones :

Model stitched on a cut of linen of 43cm x 19cm (17” x 7.5”) Murano 12.6 fils (32count) Clay color.

Cut and serge your fabric.
Stitch all the design following the chart. Cross stitch with 2 threads of floss over two threads of linen. Backstitching is always one thread, using the color of your choice.
Once every stitching is done:
Fold all the edges almost along the stitching, and iron them in place. Cut the excess linen if necessary.
Lining :
Choose a thin cotton fabric matching the stitching (quilting fabric). Cut it at the same dimensions than the stitched outside panel of the pouch (including seam allowance). Fold the excess fabric along the edges to match the size of the outside linen panel. You may want to iron the folds in place (your outside linen panel has to match your inside lining panel).
For the inside pocket :
Cut a 21cmx14cm piece of lining fabric (8 ¼” x 5.5”) – the same than the previous lining or another one to make some contrast. Fold properly all the edges of the pocket, sew a ribbon at the top edge. (you can either line the pocket with cotton print or with light interfacing).
Then sew this inside pocket to the inside lining that you had previously put aside.
You only have to sew together the outside stitched linen panel to the inside lining (including the pocket you’ve sewn in place first):
You will make tiny whip-stitches to sew the lining to the linen, back sides together. You will make blind stitches if you sew very close to the edges, using a thread matching your fabric.
You may want to add a thin batting between the two layers (batting is cut slightly smaller than the inside lining).
Your pouch is ready to welcome your scissor holder and needlecase.
If you use a different count of linen, you should have to adjust the dimensions of both linen and lining fabrics.

Mini cushion : 157 x 142 stitches

Design is stitched on a 40ct linen (your choice of hand-dyed or natural), all in tent stitches over one thread of linen with one thread of silk (half stitches).

Backstitches use one thread.
Thread of model was : “dragon blood” from Victoria Clayton.

Instructions :
Cut two pieces of linen (same size) 15 cm square (5.9 inch).Center and tent stitch all the design (one over one).
Finishing :
Backstitch all around the design over three threads of linen.
You will want to start your backstitch at less 4 threads away from your stitching or more (your choice of margin).
Just be sure to get the same number of backstitches on the other cut of linen (so that you can match the edges properly).
Fold the excess linen (about ½”) towards the back of your linen squares, just along the backstitched lines. (you can iron them to mark the fold)
Put the two squares together (back sides together), and start lacing the backstitched edges using two threads (matching the color of your stitching – see diagram).
Before you close totally the pillow, don’t forget to fill in it with special stuffing, or beads or rice or whatever you’d like to ...

Those designs can be stitched in any colors you want, for myself, I like very much the silk thread from Vicky Clayton.

Instructions for needlecase and scissors case :
Those models are stitched on Graziano linen Riviera (28ct), checked cream – natural

all in tent stitches over one thread of linen with one thread of DMC (stay in the same range of color than the larger pouch).

Minimum linen cut for the pouch #1(scissors case): 25cm x 9cm (about 10” x 3.5”)
Stitched area is 232 stitches x 65 stitches
(which is 21 x 6cm opened, and 10 x 6.5cm closed)

After all the stitching is done (tent stitching over one), fold every edge to the wrong side (iron them in place).
Cut the lining to the same dimensions (fold and iron the edges to the wrong side as well). You may want to match the lining to the one used for the larger pouch.
You can put together the outside linen and the lining :
- either in using double sided iron-on interfacing (cut to size and put between the two layers). (People who don’t like to sew can use that for small works, it gives some body to the pouch.)
- or in sewing the two layers with whip-stitches / blind-stitches (with or without batting cut to size).

Once the stitching is lined with fabric (whatever method you prefer), you have to fold the case (the roosters are on the flap which matches the top of the alphabet with the stork and scissors – see the pictures). Then whip stitch the two lateral edges to close the pocket and iron in place the flap.

Minimum linen cut for the pouch #2(needlecase) : 27 x 12 cm (11” x 5”)
Stitched area is 256 x 91 stitches
(which is 23.5cm x 8cm opened, or 10cm x 8.5cm closed)

Follow the same instructions than for pocket #1. If you want to make a needle book, don’t sew together the lateral edges. Just add a piece of felt or flannel, sewn in the middle (in the fold) with a seam stitch.

What's difference when we stitch 2 over 2 or 1 over 1.
